Happy Birthday, Minnesota!
The picture to the left and the following text is from the Minnesota Historical Society's Facebook page:
"Minnesota became the 32nd state on May 11, 1858. The enabling act for statehood had been passes on February 26, 1857, and the state's constitution was written that summer and ratified in October. After approval by Congress, the bill was signed by President James Buchanan. New of statehood traveled by telegraph and then by steamboat to St. Paul. That's why this year's limited edition Minnesota State Capitol Historic Site Statehood button features a steamboat!"
That makes Minnesota 155 years old. Happy Birthday!
